Lilith’s Fiery Darkness Incense

From the many stories, myths, and historical documentation such as the Alphabet of ben Sira or many books by Raphael Patai detailing out the vast base of knowledge and history surrounding Lilith, there is one thing I know to be true for myself:

It easier to demonize a woman than it is to let her hold her own power, so it must be stripped from her and her daughters.

That is where we are. It is where we have been. We have been unable to grasp fully our divinity, our connection to it with our body, our ability to hold steady the polarity of creation and destruction that is our birthright, and always seeking where that power and connection is hiding. Where is that wisdom located within us and how do we harness it?

Lilith’s Fiery Darkness Incense

Getting connected with Lilith is a great way to start reconnecting and finding that wisdom, shine a light on it, reactivate it and reclaim it. Many of the correspondences used are meant to be red, a root chakra color, the life blood, and full of the fire of creation. The others help us connect with the wilderness that can be air, our thoughts and ability to connect to the liminal spaces. We can get into the space of the dark, where wisdom resides, and pull it back into consciousness.

Ingredients

  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Cinnamon
  • Clove
  • Mugwort
  • Dragon’s Blood
  • Benzoin
  • Sage

Additional information:

I used dried and powdered herbs, plus resins. I don’t measure, I allowed her to tell me when to stop. She wanted less Cayenne and more Cinnamon while I was making it. It felt as if she wanted me to ease into this and I obliged. It smells amazing! I made quite a bit, as I know this will be going on the Black Sacred Candle this month to draw her energy into the workings.

Directions:

  • Spend a bit of time with each ingredient.
    • Research them, feel into them, and tell them the purpose that you are using them for.
  • Add each ingredient into your mortar and pestle, leaving Sage for last. She said so and again, I did it anyway (and later it made sense ~ sit with it, let it come to you).

So tonight, while others are celebrating a country of ‘freedom’ with fireworks, a country that has chipped away at freedoms like my own body autonomy just days ago: I reclaim it by lighting this incense to myself and connecting with the power of Lilith. And know this: in the fiery darkness is where I will find and reclaim the power I hold that cannot be tamed. No, in fact, this month, she requires it roars forward in every woman. Go get it!

Medusa: An Anthology on Sovereignty Amidst Fear and Rage

We have been walking with Medusa for two months now and most of our followers and students know that is very uncommon, but it has become highly important. At Dark Goddesses Collective, we understand that we find the Dark Goddesses with many faces, many names, and much wisdom. When we made the decision to continue with Medusa for an additional month, originally we thought she wasn’t done speaking. That is true. We just were not aware of the why and trust us when we say that we are not in the business of asking our Goddess why (especially considering myself and Ivy have a relationship with her outside of Dark Goddesses Collective).

Historical Medusa

Medusa has many names and stories, from pre-Hellenic times in Libya where she was known as Athene, Neith, Metis, and Medusa born of the “the uterus of Lake Tritonis (Three Queens) in Libya” (Graves, as quoted by Walker, 1983)  Interestingly enough, the Greek stories are told that Medusa was born from the head of Zeus after he swallowed her mother, Metis (female wisdom) and sometimes The Great Queen Isis was referred to as Athene too and translates to “I have come from myself” (Budge, as quoted by Walker, 1983). It wasn’t until later that the stories came about of Medusa raped in the Temple of Athena and branded ‘monster’ turning men to stone with her gaze.

A Pattern in the Stories

Many great scholars and authors alike have seen the historical pattern with the rise of patriarchy and Christianity. Taking from the wisdom of the divine feminine and destroying it through vilification and demonization. It is important to know that this knowledge, wisdom, and triumph of divine wisdom, sacred rage, and the power to create never left us.

It simply went underground to keep her children safe and for a while, under the foot of men, her voice could not be heard.

It came through any way for some, in the ways they made decisions, in their cunning ability to allow others to believe they were in control while taking actions that most certainly proved otherwise. Harriet Tubman immediately comes to mind as does Madame Restell. It is a reclaiming of personal sovereignty, even in fear, rage, and fury. This reflects how we can own our stories and rewrite a narrative that has been based upon lies to one of truth.

Personal Experience

Medusa has always been my Goddess of in between, the before and after, and of becoming. It is no less ironic that rage, fear, and sovereignty are big lessons she brings as the bridge through the ‘in between’ considering the last few weeks. It is the journey across this bridge that she is full force. She has been a fierce protectress and unequivocally demanding of action. If I am going to learn, it will be with her in my face to see just how clear she can make it that we do not back down.

Black Sacred Candle Photo by Kaycee Reeves

Her voice has reverberated in my throat. Her energy of reclaiming truth and personal power has seeped into my lungs. It is an assurance that speaking words to power in my own truth is a banishment to inauthenticity.

It is a banishment to playing small or living without alignment.

Lighting the Black Sacred Candle to her for two months was like holding her gaze and seeing myself staring back at me. The depth of knowing and clarity and the destruction of shapeshifting and shedding allowed me to accept ownership of removing obstacles along my path through this series of daily moments with the flickering flame.

We are fierce.

We do not back down.

The Sovereign Chant & Invocation

A deep part of the work that drives our connection with Medusa is our ability to get into a space with her. These were both channeled and they have become integral in our work with Medusa and will remain so.

The Sovereign Chant by Kaycee Reeves

I call upon Themis, she of wise counsel
I call upon Athena, strategist that beats them at their own game
I call upon Medusa, a gaze they cannot hold and protectress of personal power

Sovereign & Strategic

We are entering the unknown after the Supreme Court overturned Roe. You might be angry. Furious. Exasperated. Frightened. Ready to set fire to the whole thing. I am too. I see you. We are going to show them the strength of our Goddesses, Ancestors, and power with each other. Over the last few days, we’ve gone zero to 100 and it’s important to keep that momentum going. However, it’s also important, powerful, sovereign, and strategic to add a few things to your list today.

Petition to Impeach Alito, Jr., already underway, go sign and share here.

Stay Sovereign Within

I am passionate about my fury and outrage. I am intensely aware of the current pain in my body because I’ve allowed myself to feel it. The heaviness and tightness in my shoulders and my neck. This is how it goes in my body when I’m unable to release or channel the energy efficiently and it’s the warning that I need to get grounded.

Perhaps you’re feeling this same pain, same tightness, and same overwhelming urge to just scream into the abyss as a way to channel it.

A part of staying sovereign and strategic is recognizing when it is time to put our feet in the grass, walk through our garden, and breathe deeply. Have a cup of tea, journal for ten minutes, or take a bath. Recharge and reset those batteries because we can’t change our world if we’re all burned out.

This Soothe the Dragon Bath Tea created by Ivy Laine is perfect (photo by Ivy Laine as well)

Get Connected

I cannot state this enough. Getting connected allows us to align and act quickly. It ensures that we can take a multi-pronged approach that moves us all in the same direction. This is a powerful strategy just by sheer numbers! Here’s an example of how this might look:

Sign up to be notified of events or how to help with one, some, or all of these organizations:

Do an internet search of local organizations and sign up for their notifications as well.

Amazing posters from fellow activists (consent for photos given) in Greenville, SC, on 06/25/2022- Photo by Kaycee Reeves

Go ahead and have a Poster Go kit ready if not multiple.

I made myself a quick kit: poster already made and some extra markers (for other folks just in case!). I have a car, but if you don’t, keep it nearby so you can grab and go if this is your preferred methodology of action. If you’re not keeping it in your car, consider adding water and snacks to your kit.

Sign up to send postcards to voters and send postcards to Government Officials – federal and local:

Do an internet search for your local officials!

Sign up to vote or check your registration to vote!

Then go VOTE on Election Day!

Get involved with volunteering for other political campaigns that are not local!

Getting enough people in the right positions in Congress is a strategic way to align common goals!

MONEY

It’s a tough time for everyone, but if you’ve got it, even $5 spread out across Planned Parenthood, Beto O’Rourke’s Campaign in Texas, National Network of Abortion Funds, Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Joe Cunningham in SC, and all your local legislative campaigns makes a difference. Especially if many of us are DOING IT!

Take a Personal Inventory

There are personal things we can do that impact resources of those in power or realign our use of resources with our values and our agenda. Here are some other small changes to think about from an article I wrote in 2020, Sparked: The Energy of Outrage:

  1. Where are you spending your money? Do some research.
    • The companies you spend with, where do they spend their money?
    • Are they lobbying for things you believe in?
    • Who are they financing? This is public information: Who donates, how much, and who those funds are sent to.
    • Who are their suppliers and where are they located?
    • This includes your 501c donations, it is public record where the money goes.

2)  Can you make a personal change in where you spend your money? Buying local or buying from historically marginalized small businesses trickles down and ripples out this way:

  • You spend an additional $10 a week at a local black-owned store that will use that money to pay for her daughter’s piano lessons.
  • 15 years later this daughter is a highly known musical artist that has inspired millions.
  • 30 years later, we find out that one of those people she touched became a professor of music and psychology, a leading world expert on the use of music as a modality of healing.
  • 45 years later, humankind is learning healing has a holistic methodology and is not a pseudoscience.

You literally changed the entire world. THE WHOLE WORLD. You sparked the change. The energy of outrage turned into love. Do I have your attention?

  • Can you make a change in the home or the types of products that you use for more eco-friendly options? This can be so fulfilling, and it does not have to be big changes – baby steps lead to long journeys!
  •  Cast your spells, do your rituals, set your new moon intentions, and then make the plans to help your spells manifest into results surrounding activism. Need help with the plans once your spell is cast? Reach out!
Very powerful working with a whole network of Witches. There is another one coming up, and you can use A Sovereign Chant I created or The Invocation of Medusa by Ivy Laine.

Above All Else

I want to make sure you know that this is not a lost cause or a fight we won’t win: We will. It’s up to us to get into action mode, even if it’s small in your opinion (it isn’t, we appreciate you!).

Stay Sovereign and Strategic!

A Sovereign Chant

There are always going to be times when our sovereignty and our ability to thrive come under threat. While it doesn’t come as a surprise to many of us, the rage that many of us feel is daunting.

But feel it we must.

It must flow within us and we must be able to use it strategically.

A Sovereign Chant

Today, as Roe v. Wade was overturned, Ivy and I sat with our rage. The difference is that this is not a new rage and it is not a new rage that has echoed through generations before us. This is a primordial rage and it is sacred. However, it is imperative that we meet this rage in all its glory from a place of grounded-ness, rootedness, sovereign-ness, and above all else – we use it to take strategic action.

When you need clarity and strength, strategy and protection, use this chant:

I call upon Themis, she of wise counsel

I call upon Athena, strategist that beats them at their own game

I call upon Medusa, a gaze they cannot hold

and protectress of sisters

I call upon my ancestors, may their energy and protection roar through me

I call upon the Dark Goddesses, their righteous rage

To remove the bindings those in power seek to place upon us and instead resolve to stay:

Grounded

Rooted

Sovereign

And strategically powerful with the reverberations and actions of millions of women before me

Grounded

Rooted

Sovereign

Strategic As I speak it, it is so

Channeling “Bad” Emotions

The thing about Dark Goddesses, all of them, is that they are powerful in their wisdom. This wisdom is not nice, neat, or scheduled for convenience. Like life itself, the Dark Goddesses bring our lessons in ways that are uncomfortable sometimes.

Photo via Pixabay

Many of you know that I also write about my personal journey with my practice over at Revelations of a Witch. It is my first and original platform discussing the ways in which witchcraft has helped me grow, navigate, and otherwise break out of a mode of living that felt forced and inauthentic. One of the lessons I received from Medusa was on “bad” feelings and I wrote an article on the top 5 things I learned. It was an uncomfortable experience in awareness.

Being Uncomfortable

Sometimes an author or writer uses images to bring about this awareness. I used a feature image in that article that I knew would make people uncomfortable. On purpose. Most of my followers know I do this from time to time – to force us all to ask ourselves why something makes us uncomfortable.

Does this image make you uncomfortable? It is the feature image I used. Photo is by Nicolas Postiglioni via Pexels.

It is a direct challenge for awareness and growth.

The feedback did not disappoint! It was in fact described as a “visual assault”. The challenge here is that while that may be true, moving past the image reveals that it is no more of an assault than that which takes place for being a human who has been emotionally stunted to one end of the full emotional spectrum. In fact, what has kept us stunted is:

the historical emphasis on compliance and that the earning of love, resources, respect, and acceptance were conditional upon our ability to navigate emotions in a way that only showed “good” or resulted in “good” behaviors deemed appropriate by those with power over others.” ~Kaycee Reeves, from “Bad” Emotions: Top 5 Things I Learned

Photo via Pixabay

A part of the lesson from Medusa comes from understanding that the narrative and expectations others have of us, especially ones that have required us to comply to an image that others hold of us, is not a ‘them’ problem anymore. It is an us problem.

So no, I will not hide my rage, my apathy, or my gaze that can turn others to stone – I will feel it all fully and channel or transmute it into something amazing.

I am going to teach you how to do the same.

Photo via Pixabay

Channel It

To be able to effectively channel an emotion or energy in motion, we must first learn to name it. We must be able to name it specifically. There are so many emotions that we don’t understand, or we cannot name because we also haven’t felt it fully. To effectively name and channel an emotion, we must be able to identify it and to feel it fully. We must get into a space where we are capable of a deeper state of awareness. That allows us to feel how that energy lives within our body.

Create the space

To create this space of awareness I recommend that there be at least 10 minutes where you can be in a silent, but comfortable, space. Without distraction, one can feel deeply within the body an emotion that has come up. If you are truly feeling anger or rage: What does that feel like within your body? If you are experiencing or feeling melancholy, what does that feel like? Is it slow and sluggish? Once you have been able to slow down enough to name it and feel it fully. Now we want to translate this in a way that allows us to effectively collect the energy we are experiencing. I called this a foreign universe practice.

Image via Pixabay

The Foreign Universe Practice

The Foreign Universe practice really breaks down the translation in our language surrounding our emotions and how they feel within our body. This practice requires that we explain our emotion in words and then describe or translate it into the energy we feel in our bodies to a being that is from a faraway galaxy. This being is completely different from us. However, to connect with them and be able to translate this language of the energy that you have and that you want to channel, you must be able to translate to them exactly what it feels like to you.

Do you feel a whooshing in your ears and heat within your body rising when you are angry?

When you are sad, do you feel a slowness or coldness in certain placed? Do you feel your toes?

Photo by YAOTL OLLIN via Pexels

Gather Energy in Motion

Once we have determined the emotion, named it, felt it, sat with it with our foreign galaxy friend, we now know where the energy lies within our bodies. It is up to us to draw that energy in together, grow it, and channel it effectively.

Photo by Muhammad Lutfy via Pexels

Conduits

We can gather and grow the energy in motion to create conduits of magical connection. For example, we can gather the energy of grief and hold a funeral rite that allows us to connect with our ancestors. It is a strong emotion that we can use as a beacon to call the ancestors forward.

We can channel our fear into art pieces: spinning yarn, creating poppets filled with notes about our fear and then burning it, painting a small canvas. We can channel it by sticking our hands in a pot of soil and using it in little containers around the outside of our homes to strike fear into those that would seek to do us harm. We can also create the conduit of change.

Photo via Pixabay

Changeling

Our emotions and the energy they provide us can allow us to create change. It is important to note that we cannot bypass the process of feeling fully or translating the energy in our bodies. This type of bypassing will only continue the same lesson over and over until we fully feel the nature of an emotion. Another important and very distinct factor is that we are not trying to change the emotion itself. We are using the energy of it to foster an ability to use our magic to impact change on a very personal level that has nothing to do with wanting to not feel the feeling.

While I know that I personally don’t enjoy rage and the subset of emotions that come with it – I do enjoy being able to use that energy in my magical practice for various outcomes. A practice that has been helpful is to sit with the energy and list out the ways in which one could utilize it and maybe even bring in flavors of energy from specific planets, plants, stones, and our Dark Goddesses to create spells for internal changes over a period of time.

Photo by Kaycee Reeves ~ Many years ago, this was a powerful spell channeling emotional energy into spell work that has had lasting impact.

It is All Connected

In conclusion, the lessons from the Dark Goddesses allow us to tap into our abilities on a much wider scale. It’s the drawing up of our own energy, and the pulling in of theirs that allows us to impact change inward and outward. It is all connected and we can harness this energy and use it well.

The Gorgon Shield Divination

Medusa, the Gorgon Goddess, can bring about life and death, health and illness. Connecting to her essence offers a shield, but a different kind of shield.

Image via Pixabay

Our Shield

We all have a shield, whether we are aware of it or not. Sometimes the use of a shield is no longer about physical life or death. Sometimes it becomes the crutch we use in self-preservation or preventing anything from happening at all.

We have to ask ourselves:

  • Is this really living?
  • Am I using my shield in a way that lets nothing in at all?
  • Am I unable to receive, even the good things?

Let us dive in to the shield she offers and receive the messages she has for us.

Choosing Your Set

While this divination spread uses oracle cards, tarot or runes could be substituted. Whatever methodology you choose, I recommend choosing the deck or set based upon clarity. To be clear about this, we want the deck or set that provides information we can connect with even when we DO NOT LIKE IT.

I call this my ‘asshole’ deck. I may roll my eyes, but the truth is that it has yet to steer me wrong even when I want it to be gentle with the message.

The Gorgon Shield

Spread and Photo created by Kaycee Reeves

The Questions

  1. What do I fear right now?
  2. What should I be focused on or concerned with instead?
  3. What will help release fear?
  4. Where is my power?
  5. What will help me grow my personal power?
  6. What is the Medicine of Medusa’s Gorgon Shield for me?

After the Message

Once you have gotten your massages, it is helpful to connect with the energy of the message in its entirety once you have connected with each card. This will assist in determining what changes could be implemented to allow a greater sense of connection to self and others whereby we can receive more from this life instead of the narrative that others would have us believe. Your narrative, story, and truth is yours.

Medusa II: She has more to say…

Last month in Dark Goddesses Collective we began to connect to Medusa. It was clear early on that she had so much to say, reveal, and show us. While we love to show ways to connect with the faces of the Goddess, we can not rush the message. Whether it was Mercury retrograde or simply that she had more interesting things to share with us, we were not going to wrap up May with an Anthology when she was clearly not finished speaking.

The Month of June 2022

Our Theme: Energy in Motion

This month we are looking at energy in motion with an emphasis on experiencing it and effective channeling.

Our Goddess: Medusa

We are still connecting and learning from this Gorgon Goddess and her origins. She wants to show us a deeper magic and how to put these skills to use in our lives. There is so much knowledge she is willing to share but refuses to be limited by something like our idea of ‘time’. Buckle up Witches!

Some of what we have planned:

  • The Poppet
  • The Gorgon Shield Divination
  • Energy in Motion: Effective Channeling Ritual
  • A Spitfire Corner
  • An update on our Private Network

As the month progresses, other work may present itself. If you need to make another Black Sacred Candle, all of the information can be found here.

Please share your stories with us of working with Medusa. Your understanding of her. Anything that feels like it is helping you to stand stronger in your own sovereignty. We are a community and growing together is incredibly important. Your experience may be the missing piece of another’s journey. Or may inspire them to look at things a different way.

Unstoppable: Medusa and Frida Kahlo

We all have an innate ability to stop others where they stand. The power lies within our ability to create, define, and choose our paths forward. Our purpose, thoughts, and actions are intertwined with this power and connected with the wisdom of the divine.

Medusa and Frida

Looking closely and then sinking back in my view of their lives, I see that theirs were those where it appeared as if the world was against them. However, their names are still known.  The truth in their stories and power still resonate through time and space.

Created by Karol Bak

Pain to Power

Putting pain to power, Medusa and Frida carry this energetic fortitude of being unstoppable and without boundaries.

Medusa, after her rape and beheading, was still powerful and a force for transformation. Her power was used strategically to protect women from a fate at the hands of men (such as King Polydectes who would force a marriage and rape of Perseus’ mother).

Photo found here.

Frida, while closer to our current time, carries some of this same energy of transformation and wisdom. Her will to be and will to question or push the status quo. Born in 1907, in the Coyoacán burough of Mexico City, Mexico, she suffered from polio as a child and had a horrific accident that left her in a constant state of pain.

Understanding her life and the underlying societal culture of the time, she was nonconforming and found her voice. She owned it and her life. She accepted nothing less than her desires and is still quoted today as an anthem of strength and rootedness beholden by those who are sovereign in the knowledge that their stories, choices, and art are places of wisdom and are powerful.

Photo by Meg Dreyer via Re-Visioning Medusa: from Monster to Divine Wisdom by Glenys Livingstone, Ph.D

The Ripple Effect

Medusa and Frida did not conform to the standard set by the rest of the world but were rooted in self. From this place, it created a ripple effect of wisdom, strength, and sovereignty for those can connect deeply to do the same. Even when the stories of us all are told through the lens of those in power in our lives and societies, the truth is revealed through the depths of intuition and our ability to translate it for ourselves. In fact, they both rise through time and space with the same message:

Those in power fear those that are born with it

Those that have power with others versus power over make the deepest impact

Those with power over will have their names long forgotten except for their atrocities as a reminder of what not to become: a curse upon them even after death.

Misunderstood: Medusa Winks

The sky is speaking. Technically, the language of the sky is ever present, sending energetic messages to each of us. From the moment we took our first breath, as an individual apart from our mothers, the universe has guided us through these messages even if we were not aware of them. Sometimes though, these messages are globally felt and cause a wide array of shifting, growing, and transformation.

Photo by Rodolfo Quirós via Pexels

It would be the understatement of the decade to say we are amid a global transformation, but today we all see Medusa wink in the sky as the Lunar eclipse in Scorpio brings a soulful message within us all. It is okay to be misunderstood, we are collectively releasing and surrendering to the message that will help us shed the skin holding us back.

The Demon Star

During this Lunar Eclipse, the sun will be conjunct with Demon Star Algol. It is the Gorgon star and is a system of 3 stars that eclipses as well, causing white light to “wink” or blink in the sky.

This is strong energy.

Art by Bob King

Once we translate the energy through the understanding of the Gorgon Story, then impose the message over our own lives, there is a light shining there. It is that light shining on these darkest parts that Medusa reminds us that the purge is necessary to own our stories. We are not the villains, and neither was she. She winks to remind us that we own the regenerative cycles even if they do not come about in the way we expect.

Releasing Fear

Medusa invites us to release fear. Fear of being seen, fear of taking up space, and the fear of being villainized for utilizing the power we hold when we own our darkest parts. However, it is worthy to note that even then her power was used in a strategic way. We can do the same through evaluating risks as we begin this regenerative cycle individually and collectively.

Understanding our own rage, that it is sacred, can bring about the changes to our lives that are empowered through holding her gaze and feeling her messages in our veins. We can remove the veil that society has placed upon us to keep hidden the power that comes from connecting with each other and forcing change. So yes, Medusa winks at us this day, to remind us that the power of our story, of herstory, is ours and we can take it back.

Right now.

Connecting with Medusa

Connecting with Medusa under the night sky of the Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio is powerful medicine for the soul. Bring her an offering of the Demon’s Eye Incense and sit with the Black Sacred Candle. It is the beacon that connects us with her. Call to her in your own way and ask her to reveal to you where your power is being held and veiled. For some, the information may come right away. It may seem completely absurd or unbelievably scary – sit with it. Contemplate in your journal how this might look for you and enlist the help of your tribe or a psychologist if navigating some of these things seem to be a bit heavy.

The Gorgon Goddess: A Sacred Candle

This month we are studying Medusa, the Gorgon Goddess portrayed as a terrifying and villainous woman turned demon. As we call to her and create a connection to her energetic force, it may come as quite the surprise how much she is misunderstood. Before we get to the Black Sacred Candle this month, come create the Demon’s Eye Blend that we will use as well!

The Demon’s Eye Blend

What you will need:

  • Dragon’s Blood Resin
  • Myrrh
  • Mugwort
  • Patchouli
  • Red Jasper Chips/Stones

Directions:

  1. Place Dragon’s Blood resin, Myrrh, Mugwort, and Patchouli (I used Patchouli essential oil) into a mortar and pestle and grind up.
  2. Use 4 Red Jasper chips to call out to the four directions and place them onto the rim (or lay them on your workspace) of your mortar and pestle.

Activate the Blend:

From the 4 directions, through space and time

With this blend I see all, from the Gorgon Eye

Metis, Maat, Medusa, Athene

All you have been, and all will be seen

The Black Sacred Candle

Never created a Black Sacred Candle? We have you covered! Learn how in this free three-part series.

The Black Sacred Candle has multiple parts this month, not to make it more difficult, but to honor the energetic force through her Libyan beginnings and historical forms through the ages and stories. While all the extras are not required, it does serve us to be curious about the nature and meanings of all those extras.

What you’ll need:

  • Metallic Markers
  • Demon’s Eye Blend
  • Personal Power Oil or Olive Oil
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Parchment Paper
  • Candle Holder with space for Red Jasper Chips and salt
  • Red Jasper Chips (from your calling the 4 directions above)
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Take a piece of aluminum foil (large enough to wrap your candle in) and place it on your workspace.
  2. Take a piece of non-stick parchment paper (about the same size as your aluminum foil) and place it on top of the aluminum foil. Trick: Fold the edges of the aluminum foil over the top of the edges of the parchment paper to keep it from rolling!
  3. Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
  4. Go back to your candle and draw the Demon’s Eye Sigil on one side:

  • On the other side draw scales, like that of a serpent (and I know you may have other creative ways of doing this – mine looked oddly like mountains, I had good intentions):

  • Anoint your candle with your chosen oil.
  • Lightly coat your candle with The Demon’s Eye Blend you created. Caution: Please make sure there are no large chunks of plant material as these can be dangerous or ‘pop’ during candle burning. As always, please abide by all fire safety rules.

  • Place your candle onto the parchment/aluminum foil, wrap your candle, and place in the oven.
  • DO NOT LEAVE THE KITCHEN (lesson learned the hard way), turn your candle every 2 minutes (this took me about 12 minutes total).
  • Pour salt into your candle holder and then place the four jasper stones used to call in the four directions for The Demon’s Eye Blend on top of the salt. Then place a bit of The Demon’s Eye Blend between the stones, in the center of the candle holder.

  1. After your third time turning your candle in the oven, light the Demon’s Eye Blend that is in your candle holder:

Enjoy your magic this month with Medusa by lighting your candle a few minutes each day!
